Android not showing voicemail notification

I have to go to my voicemail and manually refresh the pg to see if there are any voicemails. This is a big problem for me. I do have notifications switched on for voicemail.

I'm having similar issues with my T-Mobile S8. I do see missed calls, but I do not get voicemail notifications. Took me a few days to realize this was happening.
