My understanding is the same derelict freighter will spawn in the same star system. The loot you get will change but the basic layout (rooms, crates etc) will be the same each time. So as long as you know where to find it, you can go back to it. Call in freighter, place storage units if you haven’t already.

Better upgrade it early, than after already fully upgraded with bulkheads and tech. The true worth of S class Freighter in my opinion, is it's hyperdrive.
