This is also something that is not very common on these Duramax engines but it happens more often than an ECM issue. The most common problem on the Duramax is the EGR. That and head gasket issues. As far as electrical issues, this is really the only other one I know of. ECM issues are not common at all.

The connector to the fuel rail regulator had a wire pushed out!!! The way it works is the computer LOWERS the fuel pressure.
